Community Based Services is committed to
ensuring that our Consumers are treated and cared for with dignity and
respect. CBS believes that training is essential to that commitment. CBS
provides a wide variety of training covering many aspects and
responsibilities in caring for the people we serve. CBS provides to all
support staff, a variety of on-going monthly in-services that are tailored
for the needs of each program. New Employees receive a wide range of
education which includes hands-on and classroom instruction. The following
is a brief description of some of the current topics offered:
Residential Services Orientation
This orientation provides a brief overview and history of residential
services. We examine how residential group homes became a reality for
thousands of individuals with disabilities. Participants will explore
different facets and expectations involved with providing a quality
residential program. This training also provides a brief history of the
Agency.
Clinical
Orientation
We review the Clinical Services that are provided to our Consumers.
Participants will gain understanding and establish the importance of their
roles as care givers. We will discuss the benefits and elements of a team
oriented approach.

Nutrition
Orientation
Participants will learn the importance and numerous aspects of nutritional
care that is provided to our Consumers. We will explain the importance of
following diets, menus and proper sanitation practices.
Nursing
Orientation
This orientation reviews medical information and conditions that our
Consumers may potentially face. Participants will learn practical guidelines
and protocols of what to do in medical emergencies and established
procedures that are to protect the Consumers and staff.
CPR
Certification Course
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a combination technique of rescue breathing
and chest compression that can restore circulation of oxygen to the brain.
Staff will, after completing this class, be prepared to act in a life
threatening situation and perform CPR. This course meets the standard
requirement for the American Heart Association Certification.
Personnel
Orientation
You will have an opportunity to meet individually with the Personnel
Department and review specific requirements for your position. New employees
review the benefits the Agency has to offer and policies and procedures.
Participants will experience an in-depth training that defines Sexual
Harassment, Violence in the Workplace, Diversity Training, Corporate Compliance and HIPAA
Compliance.

SCIP
– R Training
Participants will discover a proactive approach to interacting with those
who are developmentally disabled. Participants will learn to create an
environment that will decrease behaviors and identify warning signs before
a crisis occurs. Instructors will provide hands on training in the approved techniques
that will be useful when a crisis occurs. All participants will
receive certification upon completion of this course. |
